Commerce City is working with Galloway & Company will assist in the design and construction of two new parks.

The proposed improvements involve the future Oasis and Second Creek Farm Parks. The Oasis Park site is located within the natural setting of Second Creek Open space, just west of the Buffalo Highlands neighborhood. The Second Creek Farm Park site is located within the Second Creek Farm Neighborhood and is intended to be a developed neighborhood park adjacent to a future school site, providing recreational opportunities and park amenities to the surrounding residential community.

New Name and New Park at Buffalo Highlands!

In January 2024, the city accepted recommendations for the official name of Oasis Park, one of two new parks. City staff is compiling the list of names and presenting them to the Parks, Recreation, and Golf Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will select one name to recommend to the City Council.

The Oasis Park site is located within the natural setting of Second Creek Open space, just west of the Buffalo Highlands neighborhood on the south side of E. 96th Avenue. The park has open space for informal recreation, relaxation, and community gatherings; a children’s playground with shade structures, public restrooms, an embankment slide, and an overlook plaza.

The community input received from the visual preference survey has been incorporated into the conceptual designs.  The community input on the conceptual designs will be incorporated into the final designs, creating parks and trails designed by and for the community.

• Oasis Park – Play Amenities, Shade Structures & Seating, Nature Viewing
• Second Creek Farm Park – Restroom, Play Amenities, Sports Fields/ Courts
• ADA accessible features including sidewalk connections inside the parks and to neighboring communities

Public Meetings

The first public meeting for Oasis and Second Creek Farm Park was December 6, 2022 and members of the public provided input through a Visual Preference Survey in person and online. The second public meeting was March 7, 2023 and members of the public provided input on the conceptual park designs. A third public meeting specific to Oasis Park was held May 2, 2023 allowing the opportunity to provide input on the refined design. The fourth public meeting specific to Second Creek Farm Park was held December 2023.

We have used the feedback received through the visual preference survey in December to develop conceptual park designs for Oasis and Second Creek Farm Parks.
