Pioneer Park Improvements

The city has big plans for renovations and improvements that will make the park even more vibrant and engaging as a community landmark. Located along E. 60th Avenue in the heart of Commerce City, Pioneer Park is a 37-acre facility that serves as a hub for a variety of activities and gatherings. Amenities include baseball fields, a state-of-the-art water park, splash pad, skate park, basketball courts, picnic shelters and much more.

Splash Pad Renovation

One of the highlights of the upcoming improvements is the complete refurbishment of the Pioneer Park splash pad. A favorite among locals since its construction in 2008, is set to undergo a full renovation. The project includes the installation of brand new mechanical equipment designed to meet the most stringent safety and regulatory standards. The revamped splash pad will be ADA-accessible, ensuring that all community members can enjoy this exciting water feature.

Earlier this year, community members were invited to share their thoughts at two open house events, providing valuable input for the project. The new splash pad design is focused on creating a fun, interactive, sustainable, and secure space for kids and families to enjoy. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024 and will open to the public in late spring of 2025.

Paradice Island Infrastructure Repairs

Another significant project at Pioneer Park is the repair and enhancement of Paradice Island Pool. In recent years the pool infrastructure has begun to deteriorate, with leaking underground piping and failing ceramic tiles, among other issues. To address these challenges, a comprehensive repair project will replace underground pool piping and play structure components. The pools themselves will be re-plastered and landscaping will be restored, ensuring a fully revitalized and sustainable pool complex for the community to enjoy for years to come. Construction is expected to be completed in time for Summer 2025.

Scoreboard Upgrades

Exciting news for sports enthusiasts at Pioneer Park: the four baseball fields are slated to receive new scoreboards in the fall of 2024. This upgrade is made possible by a generous $25,000 from the Adams County Open Space Grant. The scoreboard replacement project will modernize and improve the overall experience for players, coaches, spectators, and the community. The current scoreboards, which were installed in 2004, have become outdated and experience operational and maintenance issues. The scoreboard upgrades are expected to further enhance the park's appeal and provide an improved experience for all our ballplayers and spectators.
