Formerly named Commerce City Recreation Center
Total Project Budget: $14 million
Construction Begins: February 2018
Expected Completion: Late 2018
About the Project
The existing recreation center will see 6,000 square-feet of additional space including a therapy pool, family locker rooms, expanded fitness area, improved dance and fitness facilities, community meeting spaces, technology lab, improved restrooms and steam room relocation.
Outreach & Engagement
The recreation center was recently named through a community voting process and more than 800 community members gave their input to the design and programming of the new and existing recreation center projects.
The City hosted four public meetings, several focus group meetings and online/paper surveys in August 2015 to obtain feedback about programming elements for the expansion of the existing center and the new recreation center. See the survey results from the over 800 community members who participated.
Commerce City celebrates the start of renovation on Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. with a smashing ceremonial kickoff by city officials, followed by a free yoga class to promote flexibility, and community art project to allow creativity to soar.
Construction begins in February with completion expected by the end of the year. Safety is a concern during construction and caution is advised with construction signs posted throughout the area. Patrons will be notified when closures, delays or alternate options occur. Follow us on Facebook, visit this webpage or call 303-C3-WORKS for construction updates.
