Outreach & Engagement
The City hosted four public meetings, several focus group meetings and online/paper surveys in August 2015 to obtain feedback about programming elements for the expansion of the existing center and the new recreation center. See the survey results from the over 800 community members who participated.
Top suggestions for the existing recreation center at 6060 E. Parkway Dr. included:
- Locker room renovations and family locker rooms
- Supporter/spectator space
- Warm water (therapy) pool
- Consideration that the size of the facility limits offerings
- Improve building flow
Top requested amenities included:
- Indoor leisure swimming pool
- Weight/fitness areas
- Walking/jogging track
- Outdoor spray ground
- Indoor lap lane pool
Youth sports and aquatics ranked as the two most important programs. Wellness, fitness and family activities were ranked very important by over half of respondents.
