Post Date:06/30/2017 2:06 PM
Highway 2 closure mapHighway 2 will have a full closure from East 104th Avenue to I-76 starting at 7 p.m. July 7-10. This closure will allow for the demolition and reconstruction of a bridge to provide additional lanes for traffic as part of the new recreation center’s infrastructure work.

Drivers heading north on Highway 2 should turn right onto E. 104th Avenue and then left onto Chambers Road. Drivers exiting I-76 from exit 16 should turn left onto Highway 2, right onto E. 120th Avenue, right onto Chambers Road and right onto E. 104th Avenue. Access to local homes and businesses north of E. 104th Avenue will still be available, but there will be no thru traffic to I-76.

Off-peak closures are used to aid in commuter and worker safety by completing construction when traffic is minimal. Construction schedules are subject to change and are weather dependent. For timely updates and further information, call 303-C3-WORKS or visit www.c3gov.com/QCL.

Future detours and closures on Highway 2 are likely until the project completes in 2018. The widening project includes expansion of Highway 2 from two to four lanes between E. 72nd Avenue and I-76 to provide a higher level of service, improve safety, increase vehicle capacity, and accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles.
