Businesses remain open during Highway 2 waterline installation
Crews will shift traffic to the west side of Highway 2 from E. 72nd Avenue to Quebec Street beginning May 4 through August to install a new waterline. Highway 2 traffic will not be impacted, but multiple access points to businesses from Highway 2 will be closed during each phase of work. Each phase will last approximately one month, weather dependent.
May – June, E. 72nd Avenue to Monaco Street: Full closure of access off Highway 2 to E. 72nd Place, Locust Street and E. 73rd Avenue. Drivers should use Locust Street off E. 72ndAvenue or Monaco Street to access local businesses.
June – July, Monaco Street to Oneida Street: Full closure of access off Highway 2 to Newport Street. Drivers should use Magnolia Street or Oneida Street to access local businesses.
July – August, Oneida Street to Quebec Street: Full closure of access off Highway 2 to E. 75th Place. Drivers should use Oneida Street or Quebec Street to access local businesses.

Future detours and closures on Highway 2 are likely until the project completes in 2018. The widening project includes expansion of Highway 2 from two to four lanes between E. 72nd Avenue and Interstate 76 to provide a higher level of service, improve safety, increase vehicle capacity, and accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles.
